THE TOURIST POTENTIAL OF THE WILAYA OF SIDI BELABBES

The tourism sector can have a positive impact on the economy of the country both on growth and GDP, on employment and on foreign trade and also improve the standard of living for the populations welcoming tourists.
The wilaya of Sidi Bel Abbés, which is part of the North West Pole of the country, has important tourist sites and potential.

We will cite in particular:

The lake sidi mhamed benali: Located in the immediate vicinity of Sidi Bel Abbés, wooded is surrounded by a pleasant zone of relaxation and leisure. It offers a magnificent panorama.

Mount tassala: concerned by the development of a future tourist expansion zone, this mountain, of high tourist and strategic value, dominates, by 1,163 meters of altitude, a large part of Oranie. Priority zone, in terms of tourist development with the aforementioned lake, the Tessala massif is home to a vast forest area, natural water sources in addition to a very diversified fauna and flora and has a strongly indicated.

Recreational forests and wooded areas: They constitute the major characteristic of the wilaya in terms of attractiveness and tourist potential. Apart from their recreational areas, these forests and spaces contain the most diversified flora and fauna.

The Esplanade of November 1, 1954 (ex Place Carnot), the four clocks, the theater, the court of justice and the great post office: are buildings, dating from the colonial period of the beginning of the 20th century, bear witness to the old French presence and the style of construction of the time.

The Seat of the Town Hall, Lomet Castle and Napoleon’s Castle: These are colonial castles which constitute historical and tourist landmarks (period of Napoleon III)

The school of agriculture (ITMA): It is made up of accommodation, training and experimental plots in the field of plants and animal health. The current rectorate of the University of Sidi Bel Abbés is located there.

La Coupole where the planetarium: Constitutes, by its construction of the French era, a unique architectural model in Algeria. Originally designed as an entrance hall/wholesale market, this building is currently being renovated

El Djamâa el Aadam or the old mosque of El Graba: Located in the popular district called “El Graba”.

The Abou Bakr Essidik Mosque (ex church): Located opposite the seat of the town hall, it results from the transformation of the old main church of Sidi Bel Abbés and its annexes.


The Railway Station:
Dating from 1937, this beautiful station, modern and spacious for the time, confirms the geostrategic importance of Sidi Bel Abbés.

The popular district of El Graba: Formerly called “negro village”, this popular district is very lively even today and is in fact the cradle if not the memory of the city. El Graba was also once the place of expression of popular culture, such as folk music and poetry of Malhoun.

The Public Garden: Unique in its kind in Oranie, this garden contains rare species of trees and various plants. It has a swimming pool, a green theater and jogging tracks.

The Equestrian Center: Located at the western exit of the city.
